Philosophy

OUR PHILOSOPHY

  1. Our Goal at Zach’s Athletics is to create a love of exercise, healthy living, and sports that carries on long after our programs. We create a safe environment in which each athlete feels comfortable and is encouraged to grow and develop. Whether you are proficient in fitness and sport or have never stepped foot in a gym or on a field, you will walk away with new skills, knowledge and enthusiasm for physical activity as well as lifelong memories of the experience. 

  2. Our Approach to coaching caters to anyone's skill and development level. Our coaches will explain and demonstrate new skills to the group and then take the time to make sure everyone understands the actions. They will then have plenty of time to creatively practice their new skills. Our coaching approach leads to quickly learned and ready to practice new skills and smiles all around.

  3. We Go Beyond just teaching skills. Our programs add to our clients' lives by teaching them lessons they can carry through life. During our programs we focus on leading by example, embracing individuality, enjoying life, and working hard.

Zach is a passionate, knowledgeable and experienced coach. He has a Diploma in Kinesiology and has completed many nutrition, BCRPA fitness, High Five, NCCP multi-sport, BC soccer, roundnet, safety, childhood education, and first aid courses. As well as, being a coach he is a competitive roundnet player. His goal in life is to have a positive impact on the next generations and his way of achieving that is through coaching and teaching.  We aim to pass on a passion for sports, fitness, life, and learning to the people we coach.

Last year, Zach visited Tillicum Annex for one week as a tennis instructor for our 6 divisions. During his time at Tillicum, Zach was responsible to teach students from kindergarten to grade 4. Right away Zach showed that he was able to adapt and be flexible in his lessons in order to meet individual student or class needs. He displayed excellent class management skills, had fun with the class and was able to maintain the attention and interest of the students throughout his lessons. The students enjoyed his classes and many of them carried on to play tennis in their free time. Zach presented himself in a friendly, respectful and responsible manner with staff and students alike and I would not hesitate to call on his skills again when teaching a unit on tennis.

Zach is the best trainer I could have ever dreamt of! I was looking for a motivating routine that would get my body in shape, so he and I worked out several times a week to achieve that goal. We were doing activities ranging from functional strength workouts to fun sports activities like spikeball and football, and they always left me feeling strong, confident, but also happy and playful. I guess it is this mix of going hard while playing that makes Zach's style of training so unique. That's why I loved going to his classes, also because I knew that I would get a very good workout, all while having a lot of fun!
